Account Monitoring
Ensure that you receive your holding and transaction statement every month in case there is a transaction and every quarter in case there is no transaction.
Verify whether all debits were authorized by you and all credits belong to you. If you find any unauthorized debits or credits in your account, immediately bring the matter to the notice of the DP.
Give account freeze instructions if you do not intend to operate your account for a long time. Even when the account is frozen, NSDL/CDSL system allows automatic credit of securities due to you. Give de-freeze instructions to us whenever you want to resume operations in your account.
If the account is not regularly transacted upon, the account can be frozen depending upon the need. The freeze can be
1. Account Level Freeze: The DP account will be frozen to the effect that no shares can be credited to or transferred        from the account. The transaction can be done only on removal of such freeze order.
      2. ISIN Level Freeze: A particular ISIN (Scrip code) can be blocked. As a result no transaction for that ISIN can take        place in the account until the removal of such freeze order.
      3. Quantity Level Freeze: A quantum of shares can be blocked in combination with the ISIN Level freeze. As a        result the specified quantity of that ISIN will remain blocked in the account and no transaction can take place in the           account until the removal of such freeze order.
Precautions taken for Delivery Instruction
Ensure that each DI slip has a pre-printed serial number and your account number pre-stamped on it.
When writing an instruction, strike out the empty space on DI slip.
Do not leave signed blank DI slips in anyone else's custody.
Do not sign the DI slip unless it is completely filled up.
For joint accounts all the holders should necessarily sign the delivery instructions and all corrections should be    authenticated by all account holders.
Client must obtain DP's acknowledgement/receipt stamp on the copy of the instruction slip.
This Booklet must be kept in place of security under lock & key and should not be handed over to anybody.
While opening demat account, please ensure to give mobile no. along with email id and always opt for the SMS alerts.    NSDL directly sends the SMS to mobile no. registered with your DP account.
Please check that you receive the SMS confirmation on your mobile regarding activation of SMS alert facility. This facility ensures that:-
(a) SMS alert is sent when this facility is enabled in your demat account.
(b) SMS alert is sent in case of transfer of shares from your demat account.
(c) SMS alert is sent whenever the mobile no. is impacted.
(d) SMS alert is sent whenever the address in the demat account is impacted.
Paper Less Execution: to avoid risks associated with the DIS, one may opt for Speed-e & Ideas facility (NSDL) or Easi    & Easiest facility (CDSL).
Ideas & EASI allow the investor to view his holding and transactions online.
Speed-e & Easiest allows the investor to submit the delivery of shares online.
Investor can check latest balances and transactions in their demat accounts through a facility called Internet-based Demat Account Statement (IDEAS) and monitor the status of execution of instructions. SPEED-e is a common Internet Infrastructure that enables the Depository Participants (DPs) to provide depository services to their clients. Demat account holders (including Clearing Members) subscribing to these facilities can submit delivery instructions to their DPs through SPEED-e website https://speed-e.nsdl.com , instead of submitting delivery instruction slips (in paper form) to their DPs.

easi (Electronic Access to Securities Information) is a convenient, easy to operate internet based facility, which allows registered Beneficial Owners (BOs) & Clearing Members (CMs) to access their demat account through the internet to check the details of their holdings / valuation and transactions, corporate announcements, anytime anywhere, through CDSL’s website www.cdslindia.com

It is advised to login to Ideas/Speed-e/EASI at least once daily and verify the stocks to avoid any problem. Password must be changed regularly to avoid online frauds.
